Mac Battery?

My beloved MacBook Laptop has sadly become a desktop Mac instead because the battery needs to be replaced and refuses to stay charged. Bummer. So I am leashed!

Any thoughts and advice out there regarding battery life for laptops and the best way to extend life?

Is it good to allow the battery to be used up completely before recharging

or

Is it good to plug it in to the charger every night, need it or not?

What do you think?

  1. Do you have a warranty on your computer? I do, so I took my Mac into the Arden store and even though I don't think batteries are usually covered, they did a few tests and told me that the battery crapped out earlier than it should have so they replaced it for free. They also told me that I need to routinely let it drain rather than keeping it plugged in all the time. Drain it completely, leave it off (dead) over night sometimes, and then it should last longer. Really though- take it into Mac! They might surprise you.

  2. I drain mine occasionally but usually leave it plugged in. I've had one battery go out early and they did replace it. Good luck!

  3. I have no suggestions, sorry. But you've already received some good suggestions.

  5. My husband and I dispute about that - my personal opinion is that when you first get anything like that - laptop, Shark vacuum, cell phone, the first time it is used to let the battery fully drain, and then it will have a longer life. Hubby disagrees. Who knows, maybe I made that rule up...
BUT, for us the Mac store has always been VERY agreeable when we've had problems. Negative is - you don't have your computer while it is there...
LOVED your pictures of your husband getting his Kindle!
    God bless.

Hi Thanks for reading! Please leave a comment even if it has nothing to do with the specific blog, it's great to know that you are writing stuff that real live people actually read, ya know?
