Why Do You Blog?

Drawing by one of my former students. Love it a lot!

I am in a curious mood and have some questions for all (5 or 6 ) of you. Are you ready to indulge my snoopiness? Good, here goes........

  1. Why do you blog? Have your reasons changed from when you first began your blog?
  2. Do you like a structured plan for your blogging or do you write randomly when the mood strikes you?
  3. Do you give your blog address to the people in your daily life, or do you keep it a secret?
  4. Do you feel guilty if days pass without a new post?
  5. Do you respond to every comment?
  6. What is your favorite thing about blogging?
This is going to be fun to read your answers. Come on, you know we bloggers love to talk about our blogging don't we? Have at it friends.......

  2. I blog because I have stories to tell. That hasn't changed.
I have several different blogs, and I add things when the urge strikes me. Meaning I don't feel guilty if there are spaces between posts.
I try to respond to comments, briefly (at least). Common courtesy.
I don't particularly give out my blog ULs, but I don't keep them a secret. They're on Facebook.
The favourite part about blogging is telling stories.

  3. I blog for the memories. And to write about things that are on my mind.I write randomly, whatever is upper most in my mind. I don´t like to put pressure on myself to post regularly, because that takes the fun out of it for me. In real life I only give my blog address to certain people, like friends and family that are far away and who want to read about us as a family.
I try to respond to comments when they ask a question. I don´t usually respond to every comment if it´s just a statement.
My favorite thing about blogging is the comments and the new friends I have made.

  4. Hey Brenda,
I blog to see if I can put funny on the page.
I started with the family gene pool and then decided, hey, we're all family, so everyone is fair game.
I'm so new, I'm grateful for every comment and always reply. I plan to keep it up.
    My sib's know I blog, but I don't trouble my co-workers ... yet.

I never knew blogging was so interactive or so much fun!

  5. Hi Brenda! I blog because it's a way to get the "inside me" to the outside world! I'm a good listener, so sometimes I don't get to say what I want to say in conversations. My blog is a way to be able to express the real me for my friends and family to know. For others, it's a way to hopefully learn from something I've been through. Either way, it's all for GOOD!!

  6. When I first started blogging over two years ago, I wanted to use my blog to inspire others, bring hope and encouragement and give glory to God. This is why I still blog today.

For the most part, I blog about 4 days a week. Most of those days I link up to blog memes, but the writing is still from the heart and fresh. I try to put up my own thinking type of post every now and then as well. Overall, I am pretty random.

I just had some blog cards made from VistaPrint. I have given a few of those out, but it still seems awkward. Most of my own family doesn't read my blog, including my own husband.

I never feel guilty when I am not blogging. Family and God come first!

Believe it or not, I try and respond to every comment.

I would say the most favorite thing about blogging has been the tremendous support and encouragement I receive from the blogging community.

    2. Mostly random with the mood.
    3. No, but they got it from facebook and they pass it around.
    4. Not after one day but more than that, kind of.
    5. I try to.
    6. The friends!

  8. Why do you blog? Have your reasons changed from when you first began your blog?

I began a Yahoo Blog near the end of 2005. Wrote a variety of topics, posted poetry, and short stories. Today, I specialize with two blogs, The Writer Interview http://writerinterview.blogspot.com/ and The Music Muse Interview http://themusicmuseinterview.blogspot.com/ I love to write.

Do you like a structured plan for your blogging or do you write randomly when the mood strikes you?

My goal is to post a minimum of twice monthly to each of my blogs. Computer, internet, and mood problems get in the way of this goal.

Do you give your blog address to the people in your daily life, or do you keep it a secret?

Share with those who will receive the blog address, understand family and friends could care less unless I earn huge sums of money doing it. Plan to grow my readership. Thanks for asking.

Do you feel guilty if days pass without a new post?

Suffer from strange feelings of guilt because I want to interview writers and entertainers I contact, but when they agree to an interview, I am depressed afterwards, because I want the interviews to be worthy of the people I interview. So, yes, want to post regularly, but what I do comes with its own form of depression. ha ha ha

Do you respond to every comment?

:-( So few people comment. I believe it is imperative to acknowledge your readers in a timely fashion and let them know how much you appreciate that they took time out of their lives to say something about a post.

What is your favorite thing about blogging?

;-) Having readers is my favorite thing about blogging. Having readers helps me to WANT to indulge my love of writing. Readers spur me on to become a better writer.

Thank you for asking these questions. You helped me the day you posted this. I found you through Deborah Hansen's blog, who in her modesty, founded the Jacksonville Freelance Writers' Group, before she moved on to other goals.

Hi Thanks for reading! Please leave a comment even if it has nothing to do with the specific blog, it's great to know that you are writing stuff that real live people actually read, ya know?
